The Palouse River and Falls

The day started with a light cool breeze and mellow morning. Stretchers and breakfast goers alike were lured out of their cabins with the promising smell of bacon and eggs being cooked below in the galley. After the delights of a stretch class smoothie, people gathered to hear about the burlesque show of activities that were scheduled to ensue. Kayakers planned a relaxing paddle up the Palouse River, Zodiac tour boats brought passengers to glorious impromptu nature spots along the riverbanks, while other guests boarded a bright yellow school bus heading over to see Palouse Falls roaring down into the river. It was glorious! Many birds were sighted such as Meadow Larks, a Kestrel, and a Red Tail Hawk. The moment three Sand Hill Cranes and American Coots were spotted, may well have been the icing on the cake, for some.

The moment we arrived back on board, lunch fare, in the picnic style, was served by the proficient hotel staff. But behold next, the Lindblad global market was nicely displayed in the lounge for anyone seeking a souvenir gift to pick up for a loved one. The afternoon was filled with presentations and information on the locks as we went through the Lower Monumental Dam. Some lucky people chose to take a more personal venture through in an exploratory Zodiac. The rest of the afternoon was filled with cruising and viewed a gorgeous sunset as we approached and went down the Ice Harbor dam and lock. Off to recap and dinner and our relaxing evening!
