It was an absolutely delightful afternoon on Punta Cormorant, Floreana Island. There were three flamingos in the brackish-water lagoon, the first we've seen in weeks, if not months.They were close to the trail, and we could see them filtering the waterfor the Artemia , brine shrimp.
Sunbeams broke through the clouds, and the air temperature was perfect. On the other side of the point, marine turtle hatchlings were making their attempt to reach the waterline before the frigatebirds got them. Few if any made it. Such is the fight for survival in Galapagos.
