It seems that we have entered another world; one dominated by feathers and winged individuals! Tower Island has one of the largest colonies of seabirds, mainly offshore feeders, in all of the Galapagos Archipelago. But something interesting and very unusual is going on between the two different species of seabirds pictured here!

About seven weeks ago we noticed that this male masked booby adult had apparently adopted a frigatebird chick. We have not visited Tower for four weeks, but today we found that he is still protecting his adopted young. We will keep you informed in the future about this unlikely team of seabirds.
