We spent our morning exploring the magnificent ice sculptures and glaciers in Tracy Arm. We bundled ourselves in many layers of warm clothes, gloves, and raingear, and were very content as we gazed in wonder at the towering walls of rock and ice. We were enveloped in the steep, glacially scoured mountains as we made our way closer to the face of South Sawyer Glacier. Our Zodiac tours allowed us to get spectacular, close-up views of this glacier, along with the many sculpted icebergs, "bergy bits", and "growlers". Not a word was spoken as we listened to the sounds created as millions of tons of ice shifted, creating a sound known as "white thunder". Along with the exquisite blue ice, we were also rewarded by fantastic views of harbor seals hauled out on the icebergs, and delicate swirling Arctic Terns were the grand finale. We felt as if we were in an ice museum!
