Lake Eva and Making Memories

We trudged in mud, we paddled and walked,
We found amorous slugs and listened to naturalists talk.
The week has been full, the week has been fun,
There was so much, was this only one?
We looked, we touched and just for something new,
We spread our wings, and like eagles we flew.

Well, almost.

With a plethora of inquiring minds aboard we have explored Southeast Alaska this past week. Below are reflections and contributions from some of our younger, and now, published budding poets:

Alaska

The mountain goats are way up high
They lift our eyes into the sky
When I see the eagles soar
It makes me want to see some more
Puffins bobbing on the sea
Glaciers calving, could it be?
Whale’s morning, noon, and night
I like to see Alaska’s light
Black bears, brown bears eating mussels
While we heard the green leaves rustle
Oh, Alaska you’re so fun
Now it’s time for the setting sun.

Alaska
Cold, you shiver, breathtaking view, whales, seals, sea lions, puffins and so much more, amazing, incredible, exciting, bears, mountain goats, glaciers, iceberg. Juneau is rainy, Petersburg is cold, Sitka is where you end. Remember everything you saw, kelp, starfish, hermit crabs as well. Pick up three Park Rangers, Junior Ranger badges too.

A Marble of Blue

It’s a marble of blue with a tint of white
It rolls all day and rolls all night
Across the valleys and back again
When it returns, no one knows when
Slowly but softly it rolls
Slowly but softly it rolls.

Although it’s our last day aboard the ship it feels like it’s our first.
Since we have to leave real soon, I think I’m gonna burst!
This trip is one that I know I will not soon forget,
Thanks to everyone for making it one of my favorite vacations yet!

This trip was a lot of fun, from hiking to whale watching to kayaking.
We had a great time everyday. We got to see some beautiful glaciers, big waterfalls, cute seals, huge whales, and much more. This was my 1st Lindblad vacation experience and it was AWESOME!
