So after watching blue whales off the east side of Isla San Jos‚ we dropped the hook in 35 feet of water at Punta Colorado and started lowering the boats during breakfast. As we put the first one in, the wind started building, and by the time second boat was in, the windpoint showed gusts over 25 knots out of the north, with miles of fetch.

Well, if the wind hadn't kicked in, we wouldn't have left, and we wouldn't have found that pod of several hundred common dolphins "milling about with intent," which means jumping a lot and body surfing and herding fish. And that's how we wound up at Isla San Francisco, tucked into a nice lee, snorkeling right after lunch.
