What a day! We started early at the site of the ancient Indian fishing grounds of Celilo Falls. We had the option of the Rowena Crest Natural Area and ride on the Mt. Hood Railroad or a visit to the Discovery Center and Museum of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, and a view of Mt Hood from Panorama Point.

We witnessed wild rides at one of the windsurfing capitals of the world as windsurfers cut both in front and back of the ship. Hal Stearns, our historian, gave us Part II of the Lewis and Clark Expedition before we disembarked at Bonneville Dam to explore the first dam on the Columbia and see the fish viewing area. The day was capped by tremendous views of the waterfalls and cliffs of the Columbia Gorge. We enjoyed a short talk by Captain Duke on the finer points of running the Sea Bird on the Columbia River.
