Tracy Arm is one of the most beautiful fjords in the world. Along the route of the meandering, narrow 22-mile-long inlet, glacially carved granite walls drop straight into salt water. Along both sides are classic U-shaped hanging valleys intersecting the fjord. At the head of Tracy Arm are two tidewater glaciers: Sawyer and South Sawyer glaciers. As we cruised up the inlet, we scanned mountaintops for mountain goats, and had views of countless waterfalls. Captain Short and the Second Mate nosed the bow of the Sea Lion to within inches of the waterfall in the photo. Protecting our cameras from the spray of the water, we had thrilling views down at the waterfall!
