Daybreak found the Sea Lion just south of the La Entrada and Bah¡a Magdalena. Gray whales were spouting both outside and inside the bay. After a fantastic cruise up the narrow and shallow Hull Canal, we went for a Zodiac ride, walked along the bay shore or headed overland to the ocean.

The bay in this region is protected by a series of barrier islands. A large number of guests opted to hike these dunes to dip their toes in the Pacific Ocean. All kinds of shells, dolphin, turtle and bird bones were scattered along the beach.

On the way we found seven species of plants in a seemingly bare landscape. The one shown in the picture is in the milkweed family. One group hiked to the top of the highest dune to witness a triple green flash, which was the reward for our patient and adventurous souls. The nearly full moon rose in the east as the group walked back to catch the last ride to the ship for recap and dinner.
