ISLA SAN FRANCISCO, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

We traveled south with winds from the northwest, passing Isla San Jose along its western coast, trying to see the elusive green flash at sunrise over the waters of the Sea of Cortez, but it did not happen today. For morning hikes and kayaking, we went into the protected bay of Isla San Francisco. For lunch, we had a delicious buffet in the dining room (see picture).

After dinner our choices were to go to the beach to enjoy a bonfire under the stars, or to be surprised by the quantity of life forms collected from the sea surface with a plankton net, seen through a video-microscope and shown on a TV monitor.\
