Today we woke up at Genovesa Island. One look out of our window, and we could see that we were in paradise—birds were flying all around the clear blue sky. Our activities started with pre-breakfast paddleboarding along the caldera.

After a delicious buffet breakfast, we continued with the first hike of the day. Our goal today was to get excellent photos of the beautiful red-footed boobies, and we did not have any problem in reaching this goal! They were all over the place flying and building their nests. In addition, the male frigatebirds were displaying their mating behaviors, attempting to attract the attention of the females. Our luck carried through the afternoon, when we spotted the elusive short-eared owl, very well blended among the rocks.
