Every day in Glacier Bay National Park is special, and today was no exception! The morning brought some fog, but soon we were rewarded with a great sighting of a beautiful brown bear feeding along a grassy area above one of the many bouldery beaches. Continuing on our journey deeper into Glacier Bay, the first glaciers were sighted as well as sea otters hauled out on smaller pieces of floating glacial ice.
Through the morning the weather improved, and we spotted three more bears and an assortment of bird species. After lunch, National Geographic Venture started heading back down the bay as the weather took a turn, with rain, fog, and low clouds. Luckily, things improved for our last two destinations, and we got to see mountain goats, sea lions, and both species of Pacific puffins! It was another wonderful day in a jewel of the national park system!
