This morning, before breakfast, we had an early start for all the enthusiastic birders and photographers. The main goal was to capture the best of the morning light and bird activity. As planned, we all got ready for our first visit to Casa Orquideas, a place with an amazing collection of tropical plants such as orchids, bromeliads, heliconias, and more.

This gorgeous botanical garden has become an oasis for toucans, tanagers, euphonias, flycatchers, macaws and many other bird species full of colors and ready to pose for our cameras.

After coming back to National Geographic Sea Lion for a great breakfast and to recharge our energy for a second visit, we returned to Casa Orquideas. This time all guests had extra time to discover every corner of the garden, and for the most adventurous, stand up paddle board lessons were available.  There was also an opportunity to swim at the beach.  A wonderful finish with an amazing morning.

In the afternoon we had the opportunity to choose between an expedition landing craft ride and kayaking at the Golfito Mangrove estuary. Both groups enjoyed our last afternoon in Costa Rica exploring the amazing biodiversity of this area.

Finally we all gathered again for our social hour to enjoy a round of recaps followed by a delicious dinner.
