Today was our first true day here in the wild landscapes of the Great Bear Rainforest. We started our day by launching our expedition vessels from National Geographic Venture. We explored this pristine inlet surrounded by temperate rainforest and mirror-like water via Zodiacs and kayaks. We spent the first half of our day exploring the shores and intertidal areas, looking for the flora and fauna.

In our second half of the day, back aboard National Geographic Venture, we spent the afternoon in search of charismatic megafauna: whales. And did we find them! We encountered over 10 humpback whales and enjoyed watching them slap their pectoral flippers and breach. It was an amazing show. What an incredible day here in the Great Bear Rainforest.
