Today, we started with Zodiac cruises and kayaking in Kangerlussuaq fjord. While on the water, cairns were spotted on some of the peaks, and Lars provided a detailed explanation of their purpose and the significance of the Inussuk. We also spotted some huts, old food storage containers named qimatulivik, old wooden equipment for skin management, and possibly early Christian graves on the island. Lars spoke with guests about these sightings and Inuit customs for resource management, wayfinding, and burial methods.
After Zodiac tours and kayaking, guests enjoyed polar plunges surrounded by the beautiful scenery. Following lunch, we proceeded into the fjords for some spectacular iceberg sightings.
