The day began with a ray of sunshine as we docked at Reine in the Lofoten Archipelago and were greeted with the dramatic scenery of Reinebringen, the 1,470 foot mountain. The fishing village of Reine is known for its production of dried cod and the surrounding archipelago provides insight into the fishing culture of the whole region, both past and present, as seen by the dried cod on racks outside the harbor.
Activities for the day where hiking, Zodiac tours as the wind settled a bit, and a visit to a museum that provided cultural, natural, and artistic insights.
After we set sail for our next destination, we enjoyed our recap and briefing from our diverse staff. Notably, Expedition Leader Michael Jackson had his birthday and Maria got confirmation that her thesis for her master’s degree in biology got accepted.
