Today was a day of history, culture, and color. We were treated to two very special places with some of the most welcoming people one could imagine. Our first stop was the town of Lorica with its old-style republic architecture where we toured the old town and visited a typical market. We were, of course, treated to dance and music filled with emotion and color.

Next was surely a highlight for many of our guests, a visit to the town of Tuchin and the native community of the Sinu people. The Sinu are famous for their crafting of the national symbol of Columbia, the famous hat made by hand with remarkable precision and skill. Here we learned by demonstration how the reeds used to make the weaving are harvested, stripped for use, and woven into works of art that have become synonymous with Columbia culture.
