Under heavy grey skies, we left Akureyri this morning for a geological bus tour of the Lake Mývatn area. Iceland’s unique position, straddling the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, means we had a wonderful opportunity in this part of the country to explore areas of geothermal activity and view a landscape shaped by volcanism. In fact, there are so many amazing places of interest that, as a photographer, it’s difficult to capture all that I want to shoot at each location.
