Our destination today was Red Rock Ridge, home to a colony of Adelie penguins beneath an amazingly beautiful mountain peak. A bit of snowfall created a true Antarctic scene. It became obvious that the best way to see these cute animals was by Zodiac, weaving through small islands which were lined with shore ice and hanging icicles. In between our Zodiac cruises, Tani illuminated the adaptation and evolutionary history of the penguin.

In the afternoon, Captain Martin gave a thorough talk about the building of National Geographic Resolution, Karson gave a wonderful talk about krill, and we feasted on freshly baked goodies at teatime.
