We are currently on our sixth day of this expedition. We started a relaxed day one hour later and with more light because we had a time change. We enjoyed stretch class in the morning with Allison and a session for photography questions with Gemina before guests attended a mandatory snorkeling briefing with Pat. There was a sense of adventure today. We are getting ready for future snorkels, ensuring that all guests have the right sized fins, wetsuits, and masks.

As we cruised south to Magdalena Bay, we spent hours looking for wildlife. A few humpback whale spouts were seen in the distance, with just a couple close enough to see some tail-slapping and resting behavior.

After lunch, our guests learned about the small drifters of the sea with Naturalist Dan and about deep-sea creatures with National Geographic Expert Jonatha Giddens. She showed us amazing footage from her deep-sea cameras and explained how these help in expanding distribution ranges of deep sharks.

Before sunset, our guests relaxed on the sun deck by reading, writing, or taking a movement class with our wellness specialist.

To finish the day and to reinforce the knowledge obtained during Dan’s presentation about plankton, guests and staff dressed up in costumes to demonstrate how these creatures interact with each other and how they are attracted by a vortex created by a red-necked phalarope. You had to be here to understand how much fun we had with this demonstration!
