The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is the biggest reserve protected by law in Peru. On our expedition, we have the opportunity to visit part of this amazing paradise. We began exploring, early in the morning, the area of Renacal, along the Yanayacu River. To reach this place, we navigated through a small stream called Yanayaquillo. The untamed wildlife showed up to give us the welcome to the Upper Amazon.
Our afternoon exploration included a visit to a local Kokama Shaman lady. It was a great experience for all of us that ended with a blessing from her after learning about the different medicinal plants.
A gentle rain joined us for the rest of the afternoon as we navigated in another stream called Pampa Cano. Several birds were sighted looking for shelter under the big leaves of the trees. It was an amazing way to end our first day exploring the Upper Amazon.
