Today on board National Geographic Endeavour II, we stopped by the second largest island of the archipelago, Santa Cruz Island. Our guests enjoyed a full day exploring the town and its surroundings. By the morning, we visited the breeding center where we learned about the importance of the giant tortoises to the ecosystem of the Galapagos.

Next, we had the chance to learn about the hard work, skills, and the crops of the local farmers, such as sugar cane, coffee, and cacao. We also visited the tortoise farm to see the magnificent giants that gave name to this group of islands. And finally, we finished our day by visiting with local artisans and musicians. It was a day full of nature, art, and culture.
