Santiago Island (also called San Salvador, or James) is located to the northwest of Santa Cruz Island. Today we had an early walk on one of Santiago’s visitor locations, Playa Espumilla. Some of the guests enjoyed a relaxing walk along the impressive dry landscape, while others seized the opportunity to improve their photography skills. Later in the morning, a well-deserved breakfast was waiting for everyone back on the ship.
As the morning passed, people engaged in several activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding at Buccaneer’s Cove, trying to spot and discover new landscapes and species. Right after these fun and healthy activities, naturalists onboard shared their knowledge on complex yet fascinating topics such as photographic composition and evolution.
In the afternoon, guests had the difficult task of deciding whether to go on a hike along an impressive geological landscape with grottoes and fur seals, or snorkeling with sea lions and dense schools of colorful fish, both of which were options at Egas Port. No matter their final choice, their joyful faces at the end of the activities proved that their decision was the right one.
After an educational recap on natural issues and the next day's briefing, everyone enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner on the sky deck. Under the stars, guests felt the nocturnal breeze. It was the perfect place and the perfect moment to have a nice chat, and share in their unforgettable moments with family and friends.
