This morning we had the unique opportunity to get a glimpse of what life in Iceland was like during the height of the herring fishery boom by visiting the Herring Era Museum. Centered in Siglufjörður, Iceland’s herring fishery ran between 1903 and 1968 and was so lucrative it helped propel the country to independence. Many people were employed to process and package the fish. To show us how, the museum put on a reenactment.
