Today, like so many others aboard National Geographic Explorer, was fantastic! Time was flying by and yet each experience was so memorable.
The morning was absolutely stunning, with two excursions from which to choose. One option was to hike up to Drangey, where the cliffs never stay silent due to the constant singing of birds. The island is linked to one of the more famous Icelandic folklores about Grettir the Strong. The hike to the top of the island was steep but the view was worth it for those who made the climb. The other option was to cruise around the island and its dramatic cliffs on this beautiful and sunny morning. Both options were rewarding.
The afternoon had two other options to choose from, a glacier river tour and a tour of a turf farm and encounter with Icelandic horses. Even though both of these tours were vastly different, both were wonderful in their own way.
