As we cruised towards Trinity Island this morning, a few guests and members of the expedition staff were watching for whales from the bridge when a team member spotted the blow of a blue whale. The whale allowed us enough time to alert other guests to the sight of such a special creature before breakfast.

After saying goodbye to our new friend, we continued the morning with Zodiac cruises through the ice and rock cathedral that is Spert Island. As we returned from our cruises, an announcement invited us to deck 8 to enjoy lunch and watch three humpback whales feeding in the area.

The afternoon weather allowed for kayaking and a leg stretch at Mikkelsen Harbor. With quite a bit of snow still on the ground, some guests enjoyed watching the penguins go about their day as Weddell seals napped along the coastline. Other guests paddled around the bay and took in the beautiful surroundings.
