Today we started with a skiff exploration of an open area of the river where we spotted pink river dolphins. We stayed with them for a long time, watching their elegant moves as they performed their courtship ritual. It is the time of the year when this takes place. It was an extraordinary way to start the day.
After breakfast, we went deep into a tributary in search of wildlife. Not only did we find a large troop of squirrel monkeys that were feeding on fruits, carrying their babies on their backs, and jumping from tree to tree, but also, we found a porcupine hidden inside of a dead tree and a woodpecker that appeared in front of us.
In the afternoon, we had a skiff exploration in Clavero Lake where we found sloths, nighthawks, and the colorful caciques, at their best in the afternoon light.
