They say that when transiting the Drake, you either get a ‘Drake-lake’ or the ‘Drake-shake’… we were gifted the experience of the ‘Drake-shake’ – Mother Nature is a most wonderful power to experience. It was a quiet day on board National Geographic Explorer as guests settled into their new home away from home. Throughout the day, our naturalists offered a myriad of presentations, including Federico Pardo’s talk about life in the field as a National Geographic photographer. The day closed with wonderful light dancing on the water and albatrosses riding the waves. Oh, the Drake…she has already made this adventure one we will all remember. Tomorrow, we will make it to Antarctica – I reckon many of us will be dreaming of penguin chicks! Sweet dreams from the Drake Passage.
