Today is a sea day as we leave our Antarctic adventures to the south, heading back north towards the continent of South America. A day at sea gives us the opportunity to get out on deck to observe or photograph some of the amazing birds that call the infamous Drake Passage home.

Today we enjoyed many presentations. Naturalist Ezra Siegel spoke about, “Shackleton’s Trans-Antarctic Expedition.” Special guest speaker Christian Cooper hosted a fun game show, “Miss Conception.” Naturalist Amy Brummit presented on, “Hidden Consequences of Ocean Acidification.” After dinner, National Geographic expert David Wright talked about his work behind the scenes with National Geographic.

The Drake Passage is providing us with fair winds and pleasant seas, making for a relaxing crossing and giving us time and space to reflect on our action-packed adventures over the last week.

Homeward bound!
