We woke up to the news that today is our expedition leader’s father’s birthday. We hear he’s an ardent follower of his son’s travels and a diligent reader of the Daily Expedition Reports. So a very happy birthday to him! The sun was shining, and flip-flops were out on deck as we passed through the terminal moraine of Tracy Arm Fjord. Loading into our expedition landing crafts, we took full advantage of the sunshine and used the face of South Sawyer Glacier to cool off. And just when we started to get the slightest bit chilly, some friendly Vikings sailed over with gifts of hot chocolate!
