Delfin II continues to navigate upstream along the Ucayali River. Our visitor site this time was Yanallpa Creek. We left the ship early in the morning, and our skiffs ventured deep into the lush and misty forest. We spotted squirrel monkeys and saddleback tamarin monkeys. They were very close and behaved almost fearlessly towards us. Right after this, we received the most precious gift from the forest: “tropical rain.” We made our way back to the ship for a well-deserved breakfast.
In the afternoon, we boarded our kayaks to explore El Dorado River. This black water river shelters innumerous species of fish, amphibians, and reptiles. Later in the day, we left the ship again. We stayed in the forest until it grew dark to observe nocturnal wildlife.
