This morning, we sailed over the deep blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. As soon as the weather allowed it, the daring ones amongst us had the unique chance to climb the riggings of a tall ship! Under the supervision of the captain and with the help of Sea Cloud II sailors, we braved the heights, reaching the first platform of the main mast. Many guests watched from the deck in awe of the bravery of their fellow travel companions.
In the afternoon, we tendered ashore to explore the old city of Zadar, acquired by the Venetians during the fourth crusade and kept under the lion of St. Mark for many centuries. Our walk included the melodic sound of a unique pipe organ hidden under the steps of the seafront, animated by the movement of the waves. Large Roman ruins and beautiful Venetian palaces were all right there together and within walking distance. The fans of night photography and those eager for an evening adventure had the perfect opportunity to stay after dark, exploring the lively roads that often still retain their Venetian names.
