The morning began with the misty clouds that a journey through the Inside Passage often provides. There was no shortage of wildlife, as several Humpback Whales and Dall’s Porpoise were seen leaping out of the water, and even bow riding in front of the National Geographic Quest. While viewing the marine mammals, the sharp eyes of our naturalists spotted two Black Bears walking along the shoreline, in search of the opportunities that the low tide provides. The afternoon was the highlight of the day, as we visited the vibrant
First Nation’s community of Alert Bay. Guests were treated to a world class dance performance by the locals, including the elders and youth alike. Accompanying the performance was a feast of local cuisine provided by the community to example how their food and culture intertwine.
