Today was our first full day of an amazing week-long trip in the Amazon. We started by visiting a small fishing community called Clavero. The morning had a clear sky and there was a lot of bird activity in the big lagoon area. Kingfishers, terns, egrets, and hawks were all interested in the fishermen’s catches. These fishermen were only collecting big fish with their small nets, and they released the small fish as part of a sustainable practice and tradition.

In the afternoon we visited a part of the Ucayali River where we saw pink dolphins fishing and sloths hanging from the trees. We explored the river with our skiffs and enjoyed close encounters with beautiful raptors and many other colorful birds.
