Our day on the island of Vis was both relaxing and full of adventure. After a guided stroll around the slow-paced waterfront village of Komiza, which included an introduction to the surrounding geology at the GeoPark Visitors Center, we hopped into a variety of vehicles for our exploration around the island. The day included donning helmets with head lamps before entering one of the many ‘Tito tunnels’ that protected the island after World War II from a possible invasion by the Soviet Union. We also made a short climb up Hum Hill to enjoy the high point vista overlooking Sea Cloud II anchored just off of Komiza.
We were treated to a delicious lunch at a local winery, including sampling four different types of their wine and a traditional Croatian dish of lamb Peka which was slow cooked for more than three hours! Back in Komiza many guests took the opportunity to swim from the shore in the clear blue waters during free time.
Back on board, the day was somehow still not over. We were treated to a special evening concert on a Steinway piano by our very own musician, Nicolae Petrovici.
