Our expedition began early in the morning with the National Geographic Endeavour anchored at North Seymour Island, a small islet located off the northern coast of Baltra Island. By 0800, we are ready to launch the first group of Zodiacs. The explorers will be dry landing on North Seymour, which despite its small size, offers a large number of attractions.
One group begins the adventure walking along the beach, while others hike the path inland where dry vegetation is the main decoration of the island. Everybody is immediately impressed by the great beauty of the place and its abundant wildlife, which includes sea lions at the beginning of the path, Galápagos land iguanas hiding in the vegetation, blue-footed boobies dancing, and frigatebirds puffing out their red pouches to impress potential mates. Despite the temperature on the island, we have a fantastic walk and our guests happily spent two hours interacting with nature, taking pictures and asking questions of our naturalists.
Back onboard the Endeavour, our guests receive snorkeling and kayaking instructions. The intention is to have them ready for the expedition in the afternoon, which will begin with aquatic activities. By three in the afternoon, we are anchored at Rabida Island. Soon after, some explorers set off on the glass-bottom boat, others go deepwater snorkeling, and another group of enthusiastic adventurers lands on the beach for snorkeling practice.
At the end of the day, we reunite to disembark at the beach on Rabida Island to enjoy the company of sea lions and migratory birds. Another fantastic day in Galápagos.
