What a beautiful morning we had sailing towards the northwestern corner fjord system of Iceland! With a blue-sky morning and calm conditions, we spotted a few whales along the way.

Felicity Ashton, polar explorer and author, along with her husband and their son are the three permanent residents on Vigur Island. The beautiful island is also home to nesting eider ducks, Atlantic puffins, Artic terns, black guillemots, and more!

We spent an afternoon learning about the history of the island, its various uses, and the importance of its location. We had beautiful views of the many bird species and enjoyed some homemade tea and “happy marriage” rhubarb cake during our visit.
