We are lucky to be exploring the depth of the Amazon rain forest! this is thanks to the magic of modern transportation. We can reach remote places and add these regions to our list of lifetime achievements. This rainforest is vast nearly as big as the entire United States, it is very flat with giant trees and the most divers wildlife.
In order to enjoy the best hours when the wildlife is active we started our activities early in the morning before breakfast. It begun with a skiff ride exploring Yanayaquillo Creek. This place is surrounded by tall trees which are home to many types of creatures namely monkeys and lots of birds. As we explored the forest we spotted a troop of squirrel monkeys jumping from tree to tree as they searched for their daily fares. They are noisy and so are the saddled tamarins much smaller but as active and agile as the squirrel monkeys.
The forest is dotted with colorful birds such as yellow macaws, other types of parrots and raptors such as the white headed cara caras and black collared hawks. Also on the trees we spotted a particular reptile very elusive as it is also green and blends with the foliage. This is the caiman lizard. The black water of the rivers are home for one of the greatest diversities of fresh water fish that are fed by the fruits of the forest. What makes this magnificent forest even more attractive to the visitor is the presence of oink river dolphins. This fresh water mammal has a vast distribution which is all around this amazon basin.
